Jennifer Collier-Maps

The second artist I found inspiring when looking at maps and grids is Jennifer Collier, I found images of her work in a magazine then googled her. When I saw all her work on her webpage it made me realsie how different I could make this project and how I can take inspiration from the things she makes then put it in my own work. Her work has really inspired me to think outside the box when making my final piece, to make it unique and out-standing just like the work produced by Jennifer.

This is the first piece of her work I saw when I went on to her website, this is the image that helped me decide that I wanted to look at the rest of her work and take inspiration from it all to make my final piece. I like that this piece is so unique and I like how it stands out so much. This camra has made me think about making my final piece in to a sculpture piece based on maps and grids because it will be eye-catching and different.

These pictures of the dress that I found really inspired me to think about making an actual dress instead of a mannequin piece as it would be different to anything I've made before. I like that this piece is different and that the colours are very strong in it which makes it eye-catching.

These are the last few images I found of Collier's work, the shoes and tie are very different from anything I have ever made before and would really push my work to the next level. The pictures of her work is really inspiring me to think out side the box and make this final piece the best I have done yet, as it will be my last chance. I feel as though taking inspiration from her work will make my work the best standard it can be and will help me get the grade I want.

Guillermo Kuitca-Maps

We have currently started a new topic in textiles, this time it is our exam questions so we had a chance to pick from different titles then choose our own topic. I have chosen to do Maps and Grids, I choose this after researching it a little becuase I found it interesting and a lot of ideas came to when looking it up.

The picture above is of my visual sheet that I have done for this project, I enjoyed making this visual sheet because I found it interesting and something different to draw. The visual sheet is made up of drawing I have done after researching maps and grids. I was inspired when drawing by Guillermo Kuitca, I found images of his work when looking through "The Map as Art" book.

I found this image of his work quite inspiring as it really links to my work and it has inspired me to look at new ways of doing samples. I think that his work is unique and very inspiring for me to study for my project.

I found this picture very inspiring because it made me think of different ways I could make a final piece instead of it beign a mannequin like the last project I did. This has made me think about how I can make it in to a sculpture or into something more original.
