Chinese Culture

Our first Module this year was culture, we were able to pick a culture that we liked and that we would link all our work with. After researching I decided to choose chinese as my culture, I found the patterns interseting and I thought the colours would make my work stand out.

Doing research on different artist and designers helped me choose chinese culture, I found the designer Marchesa. Looking through their work inspired me to do chinese culture and it also inspired me when making my final piece.

This the image that I found on the Marchesa website that inspired me to make my final piece, I liked that this dress is very eye-cathcing and out there. When I first saw it I knew that I would like my final piece to look similar to it.

This is my final piece for the chinese culture project, I took inspiration from the dress above because of the cones that I have made so that the dress is very eye-catching. The cones are made of fake chinese money called hell-bank notes that I found in a chinese supermarket in China town, Liverpool. I stuck the notes on to paper so that I could make the correct shape, after sticking all of the cones on to the mannequin I put my samples on it so that it had my own work in it. I used samples on the top half and bottom half of the dress so that it all linked in well with each other.
