I have recently started making my sample for my new last project, Maps and Grips. I have used images that I drew in my visual sheet for some of the samples and others are images I found off the internet. The images I found off internet and used as my samples I have made my own by either adding brusho on or adding more detail to them first.
This is an image of one of my samples in progress, this sample is an acetate copy of the Liverpool train map. I have stitched into the train lines in black to amke them stand out then here I have started to stitch in blue for the River Mersey. To finish this sample I will shape in the acetate in different random colours so that the sample will stand out in my final piece.
After I started making my sample I started to research different ideas for my final piece so that I could make it unique and different. I read the embroidery magazine thats above and found an idea for my final piece which will make my piece unique and different from the rest of my other final pieces. This magazine was very useful and helped me think of ideas for my final piece.
After doing some research and starting my samples I feel as though I am making good progress and that I have developed well throughout the making of this project. I think that if I manage to make a final piece like the image I have found above then I will have been able to make the best final piece I have ever done and I will be able to show how much I have improved. I believe that this project as a whole is the best one I've done because I have shown more skills and have developed a lot to get to the point I am now when making samples and doing my sketch book.
This image is the image I found the most useful when looking for ideas for my final piece, after finding this image I have decided that I want to base my final piece on a similar desgin to the one above. I saw this and had the idea to make my final piece similar by using the same pins and ribbon pattern. I have thought about having all my samples on the bottom then the coloured pins sticking out in maybe a train track pattern, then instead of having ribbon I will have the similar thing but with train station names going round it instead.
